Dr. Andrew Kami maintains multiple licenses with a primary operating location conveniently placed between both Los Angeles and Orange Counties.  Dr. Kami earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology and his Master’s Degree with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. 

Dr. Kami values the combination of academic and practical experience to help inform his work with others.  He has trained in a variety of settings that included hospitals, private practice, long-term residential facilities, and on call community based positions across California.  His training in assessment spans from Psychoeducational, Personality and Cognitive Testing batteries to specialized questionnaires and symptom directed measures.  Having been certified in multiple Evidence Based Practices, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, he has worked with children to older adult populations and sees Military Veterans and Families for trauma treatment and group work.


Dr. Kami serves as the Director for Psychological Services in higher education and is a professor and Core Faculty at a local graduate institution, teaching courses in Psychopharmacology, Practicum and Trauma for clinical psychology and academic graduate students across four different universities.  He serves as a Training Instructor in the Psychological Testing Department for a local community based clinic and also works as the Clinical Director for an intensive psychiatric residential facility in Santa Ana, CA. His primary focus as Clinical Director is working with adults living a variety of psychotic disorders including Schizophrenia, and Schizoaffective Disorders.  Well versed in the treatment of severe mental illnesses like Bipolar and Personality Disorders, Dr. Kami uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychological Testing, Social Skills Training and Evidence Based Practices to help support and care for his clients.  Finally, he is an active lecturer and speaker.  He has given multiple presentations to various groups throughout California and has been a presenter numerous times for conferences and annual meetings, nationally.
 
Before working in mental health, Dr. Kami served in the United States Marine Corps.  Serving from 2002 to 2009, he was actively part of numerous operations including Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and served in support of unit mobilization and activation into tens of other countries.  Dr. Kami served his last year of military service in the role of CACO (Casualty Assistance Calls Officer) where part of his duties included notification of death to the next of kin and offering support to families that included the bestowing of final military honors at graveside.
